INSURANCE

WORKMEN’S COMPENSATION INSURANCE
A mandatory insurance for employers to protect their employees against injury, illness or death occurring in the course of employment. It provides compensation for things like death, permanent disability and medical expenses and it’s available through private insurers like Takaful Brunei and National Insurance Company Berhad.
MEDICAL INSURANCE
Working foreigners and student pass holder are required to have valid medical insurance to enter and reside in Brunei. Medical coberage plans may provide for hospitalization, medical treatment, specialist care and sometimes worldwide coverage for accidents and illness with Brunei country included. For emergencies, the requirement to pay upfront does not apply and immediate medical care will be provided.
